Baking Soda Gender Test | At home gender test | Does it Work
For years my grandmother swore by using Baking Soda Gender test. As for myself I was a little bit skeptical to say the least.
My mother didn't want to know what gender she was having so she didn't try. Me on the other hand I wanted to know and living several miles from my doctor one day I was searching on the internet and came across the baking soda test.
From the moment your pregnancy test results read positive, you are likely to get overwhelmed with the curiosity of knowing whether you are getting a boy or a girl. You can choose to wait for the ultrasound, which can show the baby’s gender after 20 weeks of pregnancy, but sometimes it is almost impossible to wait.
If you cannot wait to start setting up your baby’s nursery, then you might go for the baking soda gender test.
What Is This Gender Test All About?
The baking soda gender test is an idea that revolves around some baking soda pregnancy. It has several versions.
One version is you can know whether you are pregnant or not by mixing your urine with baking soda. The other one says that if you mix your urine and baking soda when pregnant, you can learn about your baby’s gender.
The former might not work and rarely used due to the availability of home pregnancy tests. However, the latter is far common among pregnant women in society.
So.. How do I do A Gender Test
The test requires a few things. All of them are at your disposal. Here they are.
• Urine, try morning urine because it is concentrated
• Two tablespoons of fresh baking soda and remember, it can go stale quickly hence giving wrong results
• A clean and clear glass
Once you are ready with your ingredients, mix the two in the glass and watch what happens.
Important: Do the test first thing in the morning when you get up. Your urine will be at it's strongest.
Reading the Results
If the mixture fizzes vigorously, as hydrogen peroxide would on a wound, then you are getting a boy.
However, if the baking soda shows no hurry in mixing with the pee, then you are going to have a girl.
What Is The Theory Behind Baking Soda Test?
There is no science behind the whole baking soda baby gender test. Instead, it is a theory built on the fact that urine is acidic albeit slightly with a pH value of about 6.2.
However, this reading can vary in healthy people. Your doctor will confirm if you are healthy if your pH lies between 4.6 and 8. Considering this acidity, if you mix urine with baking soda at any given time, then it is likely to fizzle.
The baking soda baby gender theory also considers a difference in amounts of hormones depending on the your fetus's sex.
If you are expecting a boy, then the urine will appear more acidic and hence the vigorous fizzling when mixed with the soda.
If on the other hand, you are expecting a girl, then the urine will be more basic, and hence the mixture stands to stand still without reacting.
When Can I Use this Test?
Since there are no side effects associated with the test, you can take it at any time from the time you realize you are pregnant.
Most people do it just for fun as well as to satisfy their curiosity, and so you can still do it and still have the ultrasound when the time comes.
However, HCH hormones will be in plenty after ten weeks of pregnancy, and that might be the right time to take this test.
How Accurate Is This Gender Test?
Despite being common, there is no science to explain the accuracy of the tests. Many mothers have confirmed that it works for them while a good number said it did not.
The truth is that medication and diet are likely to change the pH value of your urine throughout the day while the baby’s gender remains constant.
Taking this test is, therefore, similar to flipping a penny, the results will only be true half the time, and this will only be by chance. Consequently, you should not depend too much on the test.
If you are excited about knowing your baby’s gender, you can wait until 20 weeks for an accurate ultrasound test. If you feel like you cannot wait that long, then you can try noninvasive prenatal testing.
You can still do it after ten weeks of pregnancy. This test requires the doctor to draw your blood and then find the fragments of fetus' DNA. The test is mainly used for detecting any abnormalities in the baby but it can also produce accurate results on the baby’s gender compared to baking soda test.
